The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria has approved grants worth of USD500,490,755.00 for implementation of HIV, TB and RSSH programmes in Zimbabwe for a period of three years. For the past 19 years the Global Fund has worked with partners around the world to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and strengthen health systems and massive progress has been made towards ending these epidemics and ensure better health and wellbeing for all by 2030. The GF calls for the country and partners to step up the fight, through increased innovation and collaboration and improved execution to address some of the major challenges. The current allocation will support the HIV, TB, Malaria and RSSH programmes from January 2021 to December 2023 and the focus is on reducing incidence and scaling-up effective prevention efforts, investing in strengthening both health and community systems, prioritizing investments with key and vulnerable populations. The programmes would also ensure that human rights-related barriers to health and gender inequalities are tackled. The allocations are HIV USD425,034,567, Tuberculosis USD23,771,855 and Malaria 51,684,333, giving a total USD500,490,755 for the three years. UNDP remains Principal Recipient for the HIV Grant while the Ministry of Health and Child Care continues as Principal Recipient for the TB and Malaria Grants. More information on the SRs will be shared in due course as selection of new SRs by the two PRs was still in the progress.
